Assisted Travel provides travel support to community members who are 65 years and over; who find it difficult or overwhelming to use public transport on their own.
Assisted Travel is run out of Studio Village Community Centre and is funded by the Department of Communities, Child Safety, and Disability services.
It is a pilot program that hasn’t been available in Queensland until now.
The program is developed through community needs that have recognised that personal support is required by aging individuals to feel comfortable on public transport.
The program aims to assist seniors in using public transport by giving them a personalised travel plan and map along with the help of a Travel Mentor.
